What does “Prime the Water Supply System” mean, and why is it necessary for my refrigerator?

If you recently installed your refrigerator, it is already linked to a water source and can create ice and dispenser water. However, air can become caught in the new plumbing pipes, resulting in two or three empty ice maker cycles. Additionally, if the system is not cleansed, the first ice cubes may be discolored or have an unusual flavor. It will also prevent the water from flowing evenly from the dispenser at first. Do the following to prime the water supply system:

  1. Begin filling the system by pushing a drinking glass or pitcher against the water dispenser paddle and holding it there.
  2. Maintain this posture for the glass or pitcher until the water flows out of the dispenser. It might take 1-2 minutes.
  3. Continue to dispense water for several minutes to clear any contaminants from the system and plumbing connections.
  4. Remove the water and repeat the process several times more.

How can I access and use the features and functionalities on my Side-by-Side refrigerator display?

To reveal the available features and functionalities, press OPTIONS to illuminate the middle of your display.

Scroll through the menu that displays in the center of your screen by using the UP or DOWN key.

How frequently should I replace my water filter?

In general, you should replace your water filter every six months to guarantee the best water quality available.

When it’s time to replace the filter, the Water Filter Status indicator on your display will flash and alert you. If your refrigerator hasn’t been used in a while (for example, while you’re moving), it’s a good idea to replace the filter before reinstalling it.

Simply go to our Filter & Parts page to get replacement filters. Remember to get the exact type of filter that you presently have in your refrigerator.

What should I do if my refrigerator’s water dispenser isn’t working?

Simply check the following if your refrigerator isn’t delivering water:

If the display on your refrigerator is locked, it will not dispense water or ice. To unlock, press and hold the lock key on your display for 3 seconds.
Check that the water filter is properly positioned – just remove and reinstall the water filter to double-check.
The water filter may be blocked or need to be replaced. If your water is dispensing slowly or not at all, or if your water filter is more than 6 months old, it’s time to change it.

How can I fix the ice maker in my new refrigerator that isn’t working?

The frequency with which your refrigerator operates may be affected by the type of compressor it has. It is typical for the compressor to cycle on and off.

The thermostat maintains a steady temperature in the refrigerator. Compressors with a single speed (most Top-Freezer and Side-by-Side refrigerator models)

When the interior or outside temperature is excessively warm or hot, it is usual for the refrigerator to run longer.

When the refrigerator doors are opened too frequently or for too long, warm air enters the product, causing it to run more frequently.
The temperature of the freezer may be set too low. It is advised that the refrigerator portion be set to a warmer temperature; this will modify the freezer temperature.

Allow at least 24 hours for the temperature to settle.
Examine the door seal/gasket. If there are air leaks in the door seal/gasket, the refrigerator will have to operate longer in order to maintain the correct temperatures.

The condenser might be filthy. See the Care and Cleaning section of your Owner’s Manual for further information.

Compressor with variable speed (most French-Door and Multi-Door refrigerator models). Except during the defrost stage, your variable speed compressor is meant to run continuously. It may even run faster at times, such as after a defrost cycle.
